Environmental Wastewater Solutions (EWwS) Ltd
Environmental Wastewater Solutions (EWwS) Ltd were honoured to be awarded the contract by Glan Agua to supply RBCs for their first ECI framework project for Irish Water site at Castlemaine.
Suru Nathwani of EWwS has had dealings with Glan Agua (GA) previously with other projects and has supported GA with process design and mass balance. However, this time the requirements were that the RBCs were compliant with the Irish Water (IW) specification for RBCs. EWwS provided GA with all the necessary documentation to substantiate the IW RBC requirements and provide a cost derogation report for GA to reach an agreement with IW.
For future ongoing support and ease of delivery, EWwS have decided to set up manufacturing in Southern Ireland. For the Castlemaine project, EWwS forged an alliance with a local company for the manufacture of all GRP components and fabricated structural components. This makes EWwS the only company manufacturing RBCs to IW specification and offer wastewater treatment equipment and process engineered solutions to IW framework partners and to EU customers post-Brexit without any tariff.
The RBCs were completed for delivery before the deadline of 31st October 2019. IW and GA visited the EWwS manufacturing facility for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and inspect the RBCs.
EWwS have introduced a novel innovative structural design for RBC media support to ensure near zero deflection on the main shaft, low stresses on the RBC shaft tube and the media support frame structure.
It is also a requirement of the IW RBC specification to enable all the flow to be diverted through remaining RBCs when one RBC is out of operation. The Castlemaine site has two RBCs and therefore EWwS have configured the system to enable all the flow to pass through one RBC for full treatment. Each RBC includes an integral balancing chamber upstream of the RBC and the flow from the balancing chamber is metered through to the units. In addition, the two balancing chambers are hydraulically linked to provide a total of 10m3 balancing capacity even when one RBC is out of operation.
During the FAT and general visit, Suru took the opportunity to explain the important hardware and process design feature enhancements to the IW and GA employees. EWwS will provide ongoing support to IW and all their customers for hardware maintenance and process optimisation issues.
